A dispute over seating arrangements during the Argentina-Egypt World Cup match led to a violent clash between students at Maulana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU) in Tangail, injuring at least 10 people. The incident occurred around 10:00 PM on July 8, escalating from an argument into a full-blown conflict that lasted for an hour.

Students from three different departments became involved in the brawl, which also resulted in vandalism on campus. According to the university's proctor's office, seven injured students were admitted to Tangail Medical College Hospital. Another student with severe injuries was transferred to Kumudini Hospital in Mirzapur. Even Assistant Proctor Dr. Abdul Quddus sustained injuries and received first aid.

Proctor Dr. Monir Morshed described the clash as being triggered by a "trivial dispute." He confirmed that campus police arrived and successfully brought the situation under control. University authorities plan to address the matter with the vice-chancellor and the involved students. The proctor indicated that the situation on campus remained tense after the clash.
