Shafiqur Rahman, the chief of Jamaat-e-Islami and the Opposition Leader, has openly admitted that his party is not infallible, stating, "We are human beings, and we make mistakes. We have made it clear that wrongdoing and Jamaat-e-Islami cannot go together. But that does not mean we never do anything wrong. We make mistakes, we commit offenses and crimes."

Speaking at the Dhaka district Jamaat-e-Islami's half-yearly members' conference, Rahman encouraged citizens to report any misconduct by party members. He pledged that the party would address and rectify such issues. This candid acknowledgment comes in the wake of the party expelling Satkhira-4 MP Gazi Nazrul Islam due to "moral misconduct" after an investigation confirmed the allegations.

Rahman stressed the importance of vigilance among party leaders and activists, particularly those in positions of responsibility. He reiterated the party's zero-tolerance policy on serious moral lapses, stating, "There is no compromise in Jamaat-e-Islami when it comes to morality. If someone's lapse remains within a tolerable limit, we will try to reform them and give them the opportunity to continue their responsibilities. But if the offence is serious, there will be nothing we can do. We will have to take action."
