A woman was allegedly strangled to death by her husband in Dhaka's Shahjahanpur area on Sunday afternoon, following a domestic dispute exacerbated by financial difficulties. The victim, identified as Swapna Khatun, 25, was found dead in their home.

The victim was identified as Swapna Khatun, 25, of Tilatia village in Phulpur upazila of Mymensingh. Her husband, Rubel Mia, is from Sankipara in Mymensingh Sadar.

According to Shahjahanpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Amirul Islam, the victim's husband, Rubel Mia, is suspected of committing the crime. Police recovered Swapna's body around 1:30 p.m. and sent it to Dhaka Medical College morgue for an autopsy. Rubel Mia was apprehended later that evening in the Khilgaon area.

Police reports indicate that the couple frequently argued about their financial struggles. Rubel Mia reportedly worked sporadically as a day laborer and was often unemployed, while Swapna Khatun worked as a domestic helper. They had been married for 13 years and had two children, who are now staying with relatives in their home village.
