Octogenarian Bedridden on Stretcher for Six Days Straight at Orléans Hospital; Health Agency Requests Review

An 85-year-old woman, formerly an elected official, endured six days lying on a stretcher in the corridors of Orléans University Hospital in July. The patient recounted her ordeal, stating she "lived through hell" during her prolonged stay at the facility.

The incident highlights significant issues within the hospital's patient care system. Being confined to a stretcher for nearly a week, unable to access a proper bed, raises serious questions about hospital capacity, patient management, and the quality of care provided, especially for vulnerable elderly patients.

In response to the distressing situation, the regional health agency (ARS) has initiated a request for an "experience feedback" process. This review aims to thoroughly investigate the circumstances that led to the patient's prolonged confinement on a stretcher and to identify systemic failures.
