Odegbami rates Enyeama best Eagles goalie

Former Super Eagles captain Segun Odegbami has declared Vincent Enyeama the greatest goalkeeper to have represented Nigeria. Speaking on the Play Zone podcast, Odegbami compared Enyeama to past legends Emmanuel Okala and Best Ogedegbe, ultimately favoring Enyeama.

They are all great goalkeepers. None is perfect. Each one has their strengths and weaknesses.

Odegbami acknowledged the strengths of all three keepers, noting Okala's intimidating presence and Ogedegbe's exceptional all-around footballing ability. However, he singled out Enyeama for his tactical intelligence and ability to read the game, which he felt made him a more complete player.

Okala came at a time when there were no tall goalkeepers in the world. He was more intimidating than actually skilled in goalkeeping. When he was there, you were so afraid of him and you lost your position. He was great, the greatest in Africa.

"They are all good, but I will give it to Vincent," Odegbami stated, concluding his assessment. Enyeama, who earned 101 caps for Nigeria and was part of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations-winning team, retired from international football in 2015. He follows late Rashidi Yekini and Victor Osimhen on Nigeria's all-time top scorers list.
