Officials seek to calm public after algicides dumped at sea to reopen desalination plants

Officials are trying to reassure the public after algicides were dumped into the sea in an effort to remove rogue algae that had crippled desalination plants.

Fishing was temporarily banned as a precaution, while the Energy Ministry said water supplies had returned to normal. The operation had initially not been announced.
