Ogun building collapse death toll rises to three

A three-story building collapsed in Baale Road, Ajuwon, Ogun State, on Monday, prompting an immediate response from emergency services. The structure, which housed shops on the ground floor and residential apartments above, gave way after a period of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.

As of Tuesday morning, rescue and recovery operations have confirmed three fatalities. Officials reported that 12 adults were rescued alive, while three individuals were recovered dead: one adult female, one baby girl, and a 75-year-old man. Rescue efforts were ongoing.

The Lagos State Government deployed its emergency responders and heavy rescue equipment to support the operation, following a request from the Ogun State Government. The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, stated that this intervention reflects a commitment to regional emergency collaboration and integrated disaster management.
