Ogun State completes 42 roads in seven years, says Governor Abiodun

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has declared that his administration has completed the reconstruction of more than 42 roads within the Ogun Central Senatorial District over the past seven years. This announcement came Friday during the inauguration of the 3.5-kilometer Adesan Road in Mowe-Ofada, Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area.

I want to assure you that we will remain a promise-keeping administration and, for those who live here, ensure that this road serves the purpose for which it was designed and reconstructed.

Abiodun highlighted that this road project is part of a broader strategy to enhance infrastructure and stimulate economic growth throughout the state. He asserted his commitment to equitable distribution of infrastructure, fulfilling campaign promises made since assuming office on May 29, 2019. The governor reported a total of 1,600 kilometers of roads reconstructed statewide during his tenure, underscoring the government's dedication to infrastructure development and economic advancement.

He urged residents of Ofada and surrounding areas to safeguard the newly built road and use it appropriately. Abiodun noted Ofada's significance as a rice-producing hub and its strategic position bordering Lagos State, which has a growing population. He also pointed out that Obafemi-Owode hosts millions of residents and businesses, making infrastructure investment essential. The governor expressed satisfaction with the Adesan Road's completion, anticipating it will improve connectivity between communities, markets, and businesses, and ease travel between Ogun and Lagos.

This road was in a deplorable condition for years, making movement difficult for motorists and residents before the intervention of Gov. Dapo Abiodun’s administration.

Damilola Soneye, the representative for Obafemi-Owode in the Ogun State House of Assembly, praised the governor for the road reconstruction. Soneye stated the project has improved transportation, enhanced livelihoods, and significantly boosted property values. He recalled the road's previous dilapidated state, which hindered movement, and credited Governor Abiodun's administration for the intervention that has now revitalized the area for economic activity.
