Olimpia and Recoleta FC Advance to Copa Sudamericana Round of 16; Draw Looms

Olimpia and Recoleta FC have secured direct passage to the Copa Sudamericana's round of 16, having finished atop their respective groups. Both Paraguayan clubs now await the outcome of the playoff matches to discover their next opponents in the tournament's knockout stage.

The draw ceremony, scheduled for 12:00 PM Paraguay time, will determine the pairings for the round of 16. Olimpia, managed by Pablo ‘Vitamina’ Sánchez, could face any of the winners emerging from the playoff duels. These include potential matchups against teams like Bolívar, Gremio, Sporting Cristal, RB Bragantino, Boca Juniors, and others.

The schedule for the Copa Sudamericana 2026 has been laid out, with the round of 16 matches set to take place in July, following the World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Olimpia will play the first leg away from home and the return match on home soil. The knockout phase begins with the round of 16 from August 11-13 and concludes the following week, August 18-20.

Further down the line, the quarterfinals are slated for September 8-10 and 15-17. The semifinals will follow on October 13-14 and 20-21. The tournament's grand finale is scheduled to be held at the Metropolitano Stadium in Barranquilla on November 21.
