Olimpia to Face Flamengo in Final Preparation Match Before Clausura Kickoff

Paraguayan football club Olimpia is intensifying its preparations for the upcoming season with a series of friendly matches. The team has scheduled four exhibition games, with the final and most high-profile match set to be against Brazilian powerhouse Flamengo in Brasilia.

Olimpia's preparation phase includes three domestic friendlies. They will first face Sportivo San Lorenzo on July 4, followed by Recoleta FC on July 8, and Sportivo Luqueño on July 14. All these matches will take place at their training facility, with restricted access.

The international friendly against Flamengo is slated for July 17 at the Mané Garrincha Stadium in Brasilia. This match serves as a significant test for the squad, managed by Argentine coach Pablo Sánchez, as they conclude their inter-season training.

The Paraguayan Clausura 2026 championship is set to commence on July 24. Olimpia, the reigning champions, will participate in the opening match, a classic derby against Libertad. The exact date and venue for this opening fixture are yet to be finalized.

Beyond the domestic league, Olimpia faces a busy schedule in the latter half of the year, competing in both the Copa Paraguay and the Copa Sudamericana. Their Copa Sudamericana opponent will emerge from the series between Vasco da Gama and Deportivo Independiente Medellín.
