Oman and Japan discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation and regional stability

Oman's Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi held talks with his Japanese counterpart, Toshimitsu Motegi, in Muscat, focusing on deepening the friendship and cooperation between the two nations. The meeting underscored a shared commitment to enhancing collaboration across political, economic, and cultural spheres.

Both ministers highlighted the significance of ongoing political dialogue and the exchange of views on matters of mutual interest. A key focus of their discussion was regional stability, including efforts to de-escalate tensions and foster conditions for peaceful resolutions. They specifically addressed the critical importance of maintaining freedom and safety in maritime navigation through the vital waterways of the Strait of Hormuz and Bab Al Mandab, aligning with international law to protect global trade and supply chain stability.

The discussions also extended to bolstering economic and trade relations, encouraging partnerships between public and private sector entities in both countries. Areas for expanded cooperation include oil, liquefied natural gas, renewable energy, hydrogen, and ammonia. Furthermore, the ministers explored avenues for collaboration in tourism, transport, the environment, technology, maritime security, food security, and education, signaling a broad agenda for future engagement.
