Oman arrests 7 Asian nationals over drug trafficking, possession of 185kg of narcotics

Omani authorities have apprehended seven individuals of Asian nationality in the Wilayat of Al Barka as part of a significant anti-drug operation. The arrests followed the discovery of a substantial quantity of narcotics, highlighting the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.

The suspects were found in possession of over 185 kilograms of various illicit substances. The seizure included potent drugs such as crystal meth, hashish, marijuana, and morphine. This large haul underscores the scale of the drug trade being targeted by law enforcement in Oman.

In addition to the bulk narcotics, the operation also yielded a significant cache of over 120,000 psychotropic substance tablets. Police believe these tablets were intended for trafficking, further indicating a coordinated effort to distribute illegal substances. The Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Control Department, in conjunction with the South Al Batinah Governorate Police, led the successful operation.

Legal proceedings are currently underway against the arrested individuals. The successful bust reflects the diligence of Omani authorities in maintaining public safety and combating the flow of illegal drugs into and through the country.
