Oman is celebrating World Blood Donor Day by emphasizing the profound humanitarian impact of blood donation. This act is recognized not only for saving lives and bolstering the healthcare system but also for fostering solidarity within Omani society.

Dr. Khalid bin Said Al Habsi, Head of Blood Bank Services in Bausher, reported a remarkable 47 percent increase in collected blood units between 2020 and 2025, attributing this growth to effective awareness campaigns. He stressed the importance of continued education, particularly for younger generations, to ensure a sustainable future for blood donation.

The dedication of regular donors is a cornerstone of the national blood supply. Many individuals have donated dozens of times, with some approaching 300 donations. Meeting the consistent demand for blood and its components across Oman remains a priority. The Blood Bank Services in Bausher alone supply over 4,000 units monthly, approximately 140 units daily, to various healthcare institutions. Challenges persist, however, with donations typically declining during holidays, summer, and Ramadan, underscoring the need for ongoing public engagement.
