Oman to host 3rd Arab Women's Sailing Championship in 2026

Oman is set to host the 3rd Arab Women's Sailing Championship from October 15-21, 2026, at Barceló Mussanah Resort. The event anticipates drawing approximately 30 female sailors from across the region to compete in Optimist, ILCA 4, and ILCA 6 classes.

Oman Sail, in collaboration with the Oman Maritime Sports Committee and the Arab Sailing Federation, is organizing the championship. This regatta will be integrated into the 15th edition of Mussanah Race Week, reinforcing Oman's status as a hub for women's maritime sports. This hosting opportunity is a direct progression from the national team's strong performances in previous editions, where sailors like Hadeel Al Mushaifri and Tarteel Al Hasni secured medals.

Abdul Aziz Salim Al Shidi, Oman Sail's Acting Director of Sailing, highlighted the event's significance in elevating women's sports. The Arab Sailing Federation's President, Sheikh Khalifa bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, also welcomed the championship's growth, emphasizing its role in developing women's sailing and fostering cooperation among Arab nations.
