Omo-Agege, Iyovwaye Escape Alleged Assassination Bid in Delta Community

Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, the Delta central senatorial candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), and the party's governorship candidate, Deacon Chris Iyovwaye, have narrowly escaped an alleged assassination attempt. The incident took place in Usiefuru community, Ughelli South Local Government Area, on Thursday.

Omo-Agege stated that armed individuals targeted him and Iyovwaye, along with other NDC leaders in Delta. He expressed gratitude to God for their safety, noting that six other party members were injured during the attack. Omo-Agege alleged that suspected thugs, sponsored by a rival political party, opened fire on NDC members who had gathered to welcome them during their tour of Delta Central.

He identified some of the injured members as Mr. Believe Biadoyo, Mr. Joshua Oghenetega Oyibocha, and Owhos Peter.

Despite the alleged attack, Omo-Agege asserted that the NDC would not be intimidated. "We refuse to be intimidated or silenced. Our ward-to-ward visits across Delta Central Senatorial District will continue," he added, calling on the police to bring those responsible to justice. The police had not yet commented on the allegations at the time of reporting.
