Ondo Governor Approves 60% Subvention Increase for Tertiary Institutions

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has approved a significant 60% increase in the monthly subvention allocated to all state-owned tertiary institutions. This move is part of the administration's commitment to bolstering the education sector and enhancing the welfare of staff within these institutions.

In addition to the subvention increase, Governor Aiyedatiwa has also authorized the immediate implementation of the agreement reached between the Federal Government and university unions. This agreement is expected to address long-standing welfare concerns, boost morale among academic and non-academic staff, and align the state's institutions with national standards.

The governor's Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, stated that both approvals take immediate effect from the current month. The increased subvention is intended to strengthen the institutions' financial capacity, ensuring prompt salary payments and improving the overall learning environment for students and staff.

Governor Aiyedatiwa urged the management of the affected institutions to utilize the increased funds judiciously, prioritizing workers' welfare and academic excellence. He also called upon the unions to reciprocate the government's gesture by maintaining industrial harmony and focusing on delivering quality education. The administration reiterated its commitment to making Ondo State a hub for quality tertiary education.
