One week left to enroll children in Kyrgyzstan’s first grade

Kyrgyzstan’s schools have enrolled 143,300 first-graders, according to open data published on the 1mektep.edu.gov.kg portal. The final week of enrollment remains.

Bishkek has accepted 25,400 children. Nearly 13,500 places went to Kyrgyz-language classes and more than 11,900 to Russian-language classes, while about 990 places remain vacant.

In Osh, 10,600 children have registered. Around 2,700 entered Kyrgyz-language classes, 7,500 Russian-language classes and 410 Uzbek-language classes. Schools in the southern city still have about 2,200 vacant places.

The total quota for the 2026/2027 school year stands at 193,300 places nationwide, leaving another 50,000 places available. Electronic enrollment began on April 1. After the first stage assigned children by neighborhood, parents can now register them at schools with vacant places, regardless of their registered address.

Parents of accepted children must submit the original medical certificate confirming their health status and the original certificate showing their vaccinations. The school year begins on Sept. 15.
