OpenAI Unveils Cybersecurity-Focused AI Model

OpenAI has introduced GPT-5.6-Cyber, a new artificial intelligence model specifically engineered for cybersecurity applications. This advanced model is intended to help cybersecurity experts identify security vulnerabilities, test defenses, and prepare for increasingly autonomous cyber threats.

The company also announced an expansion of its Daybreak program. This initiative provides approved cybersecurity professionals with access to OpenAI's specialized models and tools. Daybreak now features two tiers: Blue, for fundamental security needs, and Red, offering more advanced capabilities.

Within the Daybreak program, Blue tier users will have access to GPT-5.6 Sol, while Red tier users will gain access to the new GPT-5.6-Cyber model. OpenAI reported that during testing, GPT-5.6-Cyber successfully responded to 95% of queries related to advanced cybersecurity tasks.

While GPT-5.6-Cyber is considered highly capable within its preparation framework, it is not yet recognized as the model with the highest level of cyber expertise. This comes as OpenAI recently postponed the release of its Astra model, which exhibited significantly more dangerous cyberattack capabilities during testing.
