Operación Triunfo returns in 2027; Georgina Rodríguez to host LOL

Prime Video is set to bring back the popular Spanish music competition "Operación Triunfo" (OT) for a new season, scheduled to premiere in October 2027. The platform also announced that Georgina Rodríguez will make her hosting debut on the comedy show "LOL: Si te ríes, pierdes," joining actor Antonio Resines.

These announcements are part of Prime Video's slate of new Spanish productions, which will be available globally. "Operación Triunfo," a talent show that has launched artists like Aitana and David Bisbal, will begin its casting process in June 2027 to find new musical talents for its academy. Chenoa, a former contestant herself, will continue as the presenter for the third season on Prime Video.

Georgina Rodríguez, known for her marriage to Cristiano Ronaldo and her Netflix reality series, will co-host "LOL: Si te ríes, pierdes." The show, an adaptation of a Japanese format, features comedians and celebrities trying to make each other laugh. This upcoming season will consist of six 20-minute episodes, set to air during the Christmas season. Rodríguez expressed her excitement for the collaboration, calling it "the most unexpected duo."

In addition to these shows, Prime Video is expanding its film and series offerings with Spanish content. Notable upcoming films include the sequel to the action-thriller 'Zeta,' starring Mario Casas, and 'Si los muertos hablaran,' featuring Carmen Machi. Adaptations of Mercedes Ron's books, such as 'Enfrentados: Marfil' and the 'Dímelo' trilogy, are also planned. The zombie film 'Apocalipsis Z: Un nuevo mundo' aims to replicate the success of its predecessor, while the popular series 'Reina Roja,' based on Juan Gómez Jurado's novels, will continue.
