Operation Fansan Yamma launches Clean Sweep IV against terrorists

Operation Clean Sweep IV, a coordinated offensive, has been launched by the Theatre Command, Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, to intensify pressure on terrorists and armed criminal groups operating in Nigeria's North-West region. The operation aims to disrupt terrorist networks, degrade their operational capabilities, and prevent the infiltration and expansion of their activities across communities.

Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer for the Theatre Command, stated that the operation integrates ground and air assaults targeting identified threats across the North-Western states. The offensive is designed to impede the movement and logistics of terrorists, denying them opportunities to establish operational footholds within Nigerian communities. Danja noted that the launch has already led to intensified operational activities.

Recent operations include a clearance mission by troops of Sector 2 in suspected terrorist enclaves within the Dutsinma Local Government Area of Katsina State. This action reportedly placed significant pressure on the terrorists, compelling them to abandon their positions and flee into surrounding bushes, with ongoing clearance operations in the area. In Zamfara State, the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma conducted precision strikes against terrorists converging on motorcycles in the Anka Local Government Area, neutralizing scores and forcing survivors to flee.

A significant focus of Operation Clean Sweep IV is the containment and dismantling of the Lakurawa terrorist network. The operation seeks to prevent the infiltration and reinforcement of these elements into Nigeria and deny them the use of border areas as corridors for movement and logistics. Additionally, the operation targets terrorist activities near the River Niger and Kainji Lake National Park to prevent the projection of violence into neighboring communities. Danja affirmed the Theatre Command's commitment to protecting civilian populations and denying terrorist groups opportunities to regroup or establish bases.
