Opposition Candidate Folle Urges Unity, Withdraws from Ciudad del Este Mayoral Race

In a move aimed at consolidating opposition forces, Laura Folle has officially withdrawn her candidacy for the mayoralty of Ciudad del Este. The former candidate for the official Liberal Party (PLRA) announced her decision to back Daniel Mujica, the candidate representing the "Yo Creo" movement, in the upcoming municipal elections scheduled for October 4.

As a team, we conducted a measurement to see in what situation both candidates were, and based on those results, we saw that the best attitude for this would be to withdraw and support the one who is better positioned.

Folle explained that her team's internal assessments showed Mujica held a stronger position. The only modification here was with the candidacy for mayor. After that, the candidates from list two continue, and we also have the liberal candidates who are within the Yo Creo list.

This strategic withdrawal opens the door for potential co-governance and a broader renewal within the opposition. Folle also extended a call to other opposition candidates across various districts, urging them to similarly step aside for those with better electoral prospects. The goal is to present a unified front against the ruling party in the municipal elections, aiming to maximize their chances of success.
