Opposition party: Ruling party's walkout shows fear of elections

The Green-Left Front (ZLF) has sharply criticized the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) and its allies, accusing them of deliberately undermining parliamentary work and demonstrating a clear fear of facing the electorate. ZLF asserts that the ruling majority's decision to walk out of the National Assembly session, thereby preventing a quorum, is a calculated move to evade accountability.

According to ZLF MP Biljana Đorđević, this is the second time the ruling majority has disrupted the parliamentary process when a no-confidence vote against the government was on the agenda. She characterized the departure from the hall as an act of "cowardice" by a regime unwilling to confront the assembly and answer for its actions. Đorđević argued that the SNS lawmakers fled the debate because they lack any valid arguments to justify the negative consequences of their policies.

ZLF dismissed the government's justification—that opposition-led debates would delay urgent legislation—as a transparent falsehood. The party contends that if the government were genuinely concerned with legislative matters, the parliamentary session would have commenced earlier, allowing ample time for all discussions. ZLF maintains that the SNS is intentionally blocking the parliament to avoid addressing their responsibility and, crucially, to postpone new elections, viewing the current situation as a symptom of a deep governmental crisis and a fear of facing the citizens at the ballot box.
