Osun 2026: APC Spokesperson, Olabisi, Commissioner Lament Inadequate BVASs

Voter turnout was strong at Ward 3, Unit 25 in Ifelodun, Modakeke, Osun State, but election officials faced significant challenges with the available technology. Kola Olabisi, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Director of Media and Information, highlighted a severe shortage of Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) machines, with only one unit serving the area.

Adding to the difficulties, Osun State Commissioner for Transport, Sesan Oyedele, reported that the single BVAS machine in operation was malfunctioning due to poor network connectivity. This slowed down the accreditation process, despite the large number of residents eager to cast their ballots.

Both Olabisi and Oyedele appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to urgently provide backup BVAS machines and resolve the technical issues. They emphasized that the impressive voter turnout demonstrated the residents' commitment to the democratic process and that addressing these challenges was crucial for enabling more voters to participate within the allotted time. Concerns were also raised about the ink used for thumbprints during accreditation.
