Osun Election: Domestic Observers Hail Peaceful Conduct, High Turnout

Domestic election observers have lauded the peaceful execution and robust voter participation in the Osun governorship election, with particular commendation for the Ede region. Monitors observed polling units from early morning, noting the orderly process and the significant turnout of citizens exercising their civic duty.

Omotola Akinropo of the Kimpact Development Initiative (KDI) highlighted the tranquility of the election in the communities visited. He specifically praised the security forces for their diligent coordination, which effectively prevented any breaches of law and order. Akinropo also encouraged political contenders to respect the election's outcome and refrain from violence.

Echoing these sentiments, Bisi Adebimpe from the Centre for Democracy and Good Governance in Abuja described the election as peaceful. She expressed confidence that voters would adhere to the Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) guidelines and urged them to participate actively. Voting and accreditation began promptly at numerous polling units across Ede North and Ede South Local Government Areas, with voters queuing patiently and security personnel maintaining order.

Voters at several polling units, including Kazeem Taofeek and Grace Abimbola, shared their positive experiences, commending the peaceful atmosphere. They expressed a collective hope that this calm would persist until the final results are announced. The Osun governorship election features candidates from 15 political parties, including the incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke, and Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress.
