Osun 2026: Ifa Oracle urges peaceful, credible governorship election

Ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State, Nigeria, the Traditional Religion Worshippers Association of Osun State (TRAWSO) has called for a peaceful and credible electoral process. Dr. Oluseyi Atanda, President of TRAWSO, stated that this appeal stems from consultations with Ifa priests, who provided guidance for the upcoming election.

The call followed a consultation by Ifa priests, during which guidance was sought ahead of the election.

Atanda emphasized that the Ifa consultation highlighted the necessity for governorship candidates to refrain from treating the election as a "do-or-die" affair. He urged political actors to conduct themselves with peace and prioritize the state's development, acting responsibly and considering the consequences of their actions. The association also called upon all stakeholders, including politicians, traditional institutions, and residents, to actively participate in ensuring a fair and transparent election.

The consultation also conveyed optimism regarding the future of Osun State. According to Atanda, the Ifa priests foresee an incoming governor who will exhibit patience, tolerance, and a capacity to accommodate differing viewpoints. This outlook suggests a hope for leadership that fosters unity and constructive dialogue within the state.
