Osun APC elders meet Akande to review poll preparations; Akande, Omisore photo goes viral

Elders of the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) convened with former governor Bisi Akande to assess the party's readiness for the forthcoming governorship election. The meeting, held at Akande's residence in Ila Orangun, saw party leaders discussing campaign strategies.

Many elders of the party were present and, majorly, the group, Osun APC Elders’ Caucus, reviewed the party’s campaigns so far and made some suggestions.

A photograph circulating on Sunday showed Akande and former Deputy Governor Senator Iyiola Omisore walking hand-in-hand after the gathering, drawing significant attention. Sources within the party, who requested anonymity, confirmed that the primary agenda was to review the ongoing governorship campaigns and propose measures to enhance the APC's prospects.

One participant noted, "Many elders of the party were present and, majorly, the group, Osun APC Elders’ Caucus, reviewed the party’s campaigns so far and made some suggestions." When questioned about a private meeting between Akande and Omisore, the source stated, "No, not to my knowledge. After the meeting, we all left. So I’m unaware of any private meeting between Baba Akande and Senator Omisore."

Mr. Ajibola Famurewa, Director-General of the Omisore Campaign Organisation and an attendee, confirmed the photograph was taken during the event. He explained, "It was after the meeting of the Osun APC Elder Caucus (Agba Osun) at Chief Bisi Akande’s house that Otunba and Baba Akande went to his dining room for lunch. The photograph was taken at the meeting." Famurewa added that Akande escorted Omisore to his vehicle, and they had a "reasonable discussion" about winning the election, with everyone contributing their thoughts.

Famurewa further elaborated on the meeting's substance, stating, "Yesterday, we assessed the whole campaign and highlighted where we think we have issues. He (Omisore) provided solutions, and everyone rubbed minds together, and we arrived at a reasonable conclusion." The Osun State gubernatorial election is scheduled for Saturday, August 15, with Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party and the APC among the 14 parties cleared to participate.

After the lunch, Baba escorted him out to his vehicle, and we had a very reasonable discussion, which was all about what we have to do to win the election. Everybody said what they had in mind.
