Osun Election: Adeleke's outburst shows fear of defeat, confusion, says APC candidate

Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, has characterized Governor Ademola Adeleke's recent remarks against President Bola Tinubu and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, as indicators of confusion and anxiety. Oyebamiji asserted these comments stem from Adeleke's apprehension about the upcoming August 15 governorship election.

The outgoing governor is overwhelmed by confusion and fear of losing this coming election, hence his verbal attacks on President Tinubu and our leader, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola.

During a campaign rally in Osogbo, Governor Adeleke had urged President Tinubu to ensure a credible election and warned against any manipulation. In response, Oyebamiji, addressing supporters in Ikire, alleged that Adeleke's concerns were driven by the belief that the circumstances of the 2022 governorship election would not be replicated. "The outgoing governor is overwhelmed by confusion and fear of losing this coming election, hence his verbal attacks on President Tinubu and our leader, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola," Oyebamiji stated in Yoruba.

Oyebamiji further claimed that the APC would not engage in rigging, but would instead vote and defeat the governor. He also mentioned that the previous administration's financial records and government transactions were scrutinized after leaving office, with no wrongdoing found. If elected, Oyebamiji pledged his administration would prioritize delivering effective governance over political disputes.

He knows that what happened during the 2022 election will not happen this time. We are not here to rig any election; we will vote and defeat the governor. That is why he is making these allegations.

Speaking earlier in Gbongan, Oyebamiji highlighted the APC's consistent electoral support in the Irewole, Isokan, and Ayedaade Federal Constituency since 2007. The Olufi of Gbongan, Oba Adetoyese Oyeniyi, assured Oyebamiji of the backing of traditional rulers and community leaders in the area, expressing confidence in his candidacy and party.
