Osun Election: Adeleke’s performance attracted me to Accord, Ex-APC Aspirant

Peter Ogundeji, a former Osun West Senatorial aspirant for the All Progressives Congress (APC), has joined the Accord Party, citing Governor Ademola Adeleke's achievements as the primary motivation. Ogundeji announced his decision on Wednesday at the Government House open field in Osogbo, leading thousands of his supporters into the Accord Party.

He stated that his assessment of Adeleke's administration influenced his departure from the APC and declared his intention to support the governor's bid for a second term. Ogundeji, originally from Ejigbo, explained that his earlier decision to join the APC was based on a limited understanding of the political landscape, but he has since been convinced by the governor's performance.

He retracted previous criticisms of Adeleke's administration, attributing them to political competition and asserting that "any statement made against your government was politically motivated." He praised the governor's performance, particularly in welfare, stating that civil servants, retirees, and workers could attest to it.

Ogundeji also voiced criticism of the APC's internal structure, alleging that the party prioritizes influential individuals in candidate selection, which he claimed hindered his participation in the primary election. He urged other APC members to support Adeleke's re-election, believing the governor's performance has garnered widespread acceptance and has been noted by President Bola Tinubu and other political stakeholders.
