Osun Election: Minister's wife mobilises 10,000 women for APC candidate

In the lead-up to the August 15 Osun State governorship election, Mrs. Kafayat Oyetola, wife of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, has inaugurated a significant campaign force: 10,000 female canvassers. Operating under the banner "Akoni Obinrin" (Brave Women), this group is tasked with mobilizing grassroots support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Mr. Bola Oyebamiji.

The canvassers embarked on a solidarity walk through key areas of Osogbo, concluding at the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Office. Mrs. Oyetola stated that the "Akoni Obinrin" group is designed not only to bolster Oyebamiji's campaign but also to lay the groundwork for President Bola Tinubu's re-election in 2027. She expressed confidence in Oyebamiji's qualifications, citing his extensive experience in both private and public sectors as adequate preparation for the governorship.

With coordinators established in all 62 local council areas and across the state's 3,763 polling units, the group aims to ensure voters cast their ballots correctly for the APC, preventing voided or wasted votes. Mrs. Sekinat Oyebamiji, the APC candidate's wife, also participated, emphasizing the walk's goal to encourage greater female participation in elections and build momentum for President Tinubu's future campaign.

Mr. Oyebamiji commended the women's initiative, terming it a "Walk to Win." He urged women across Osun State to vote in large numbers, promising to revitalize the state's economy if elected and asserting that voting for the APC represents a path to restoring Osun's "lost glory." Dignitaries including the wife of the deputy governorship candidate and other party officials were present at the event.
