Osun Election: Traditional ruler prays for APC candidate, urges focus on Ijesaland development

The Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Adesuyi Haastrup, has offered prayers for the success of Bola Oyebamiji, the governorship candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming August 15 election. During a courtesy visit by Oyebamiji and the APC Governorship Campaign Council to his palace in Ilesa, Oba Haastrup expressed hope that God would grant the candidate victory and enable him to deliver good governance if elected.

Oba Haastrup underscored the significance of good governance and the advantages of a strong relationship between the state government and the federal government. He pointed to the ongoing rehabilitation of the Ilesa-Ife-Ibadan Expressway as a prime example of what such collaboration can achieve. The traditional ruler specifically appealed to the APC candidate to champion the development of Ijesaland, with a particular focus on supporting the establishment of the proposed Obokun University. "Our governor-to-be, Senator Francis Fadahunsi has started Obokun University. When you get there, whatever support you can give to make that dream a reality, please help us," Oba Haastrup stated.

In his response, Oyebamiji assured the monarch that his administration would govern the state with fairness and impartiality, free from hypocrisy or nepotism. He pledged not to concentrate state resources in a single community or town, promising to govern Osun State responsibly. Oyebamiji also recalled his tenure as Managing Director of the Osun State Investment Company Limited (OSICOL), where he claimed to have revitalized the company and expanded its investment portfolio. He noted that OSICOL partnered with a company owned by the monarch to acquire valuable assets for the state, including properties in Abuja and Lagos, and established a large filling station without incurring debt.
