Osun people have spoken, democracy has prevailed, says ADC candidate Salaam

Najeem Salaam, the governorship candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the recent Osun State election, has congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election. Salaam stated that the electorate has made its decision, and this outcome must be respected, reflecting the core principle of democratic contests where citizens exercise their right to choose.

In any democratic process, there will always be choices, contestation and differing views, but what matters most is that the people are given the opportunity to decide. Today, they have exercised that right, and their decision deserves our respect and support

Salaam highlighted that democratic processes inherently involve choices, competition, and differing viewpoints. However, he stressed that the ultimate decision of the people is paramount and deserves support. He also reminded political actors that elections produce winners and losers, and that political differences should not jeopardize the state's peace, unity, or brotherhood.

In his message to Governor Adeleke, Salaam encouraged him to use his renewed mandate as an opportunity for introspection. He advised the governor to identify areas where his administration might have fallen short and focus on improvements, while also consolidating existing achievements. Salaam described governance as a continuous process requiring regular reflection and enhancement.
