Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has asserted that the people of the state will not be intimidated as the August 15 governorship election approaches. Speaking on his official X handle, Adeleke expressed strong confidence that voters would defend their democratic rights, emphasizing the state's history of resisting oppression.

Adeleke also pointed to independent opinion polls that reportedly indicate a victory for his Accord Party. He attributed this projected success to his administration's accomplishments in areas such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, and workers' welfare. These declarations come amidst heightened political tension following the arrest of the Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaiye, and five others by the Osun State Police Command. The police allege the suspects were involved in electoral offenses, citing the recovery of money and voter-related materials from Igbalaiye's residence. However, the Osun State Government and the Adeleke Campaign Organisation have rejected these claims, labeling the arrests as politically motivated actions designed to intimidate opposition figures.
