Osun Poll: Adeleke campaign urges security neutrality, enforcement of Tinubu's directive

The Imole Campaign Council, backing the re-election bid of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has called for strict neutrality from security agencies participating in the upcoming governorship election. The council urged the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, to ensure President Bola Tinubu's directive for a peaceful and fair election is rigorously enforced.

In a statement released Friday, the campaign council welcomed President Tinubu's appeal to the police and other security forces to conduct themselves professionally and impartially. The President had specifically directed the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, and other security chiefs to provide maximum security at polling units and safeguard voters.

The council highlighted the importance of these directives amid heightened political tensions surrounding the election. They stressed that security personnel must protect voters and electoral materials without bias, irrespective of political party affiliation. The campaign also called for the arrest of anyone engaging in electoral violence or other criminal activities.
