Osun poll: Best of Nigerians are in ADC, Atiku rallies support for Salaam

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has rallied support for Najeem Salaam, the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), in the forthcoming Osun State governorship election. Speaking at the party's grand finale campaign event in Osogbo, Abubakar declared that the ADC currently represents "the best of Nigerians."

This is the fourth time I am standing on this podium. Each time I stood here, you have given me your vote. I cannot forget that because your daughter is in my house.

Abubakar reminded the Osun electorate of their consistent support for him in previous elections, including his presidential campaign. He specifically recalled their vote for him in a past election where he defeated Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Appealing for votes for Salaam, the former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Abubakar assured the electorate they would not regret supporting the ADC candidate.

I cannot forget that because your daughter is in my house," Abubakar said, referencing his past connections with the state. He differentiated the ADC from other political parties, including the APC and Accord, stating, "That is because the best of Nigerians are today in ADC."

That is because the best of Nigerians are today in ADC. So I have come and I am appealing to you to vote ADC in the next governorship election. I believe you will not regret voting ADC in the coming governorship election.

The ADC National Chairman, Senator David Mark, also addressed the gathering, framing the campaign finale as a celebration of the party's anticipated victory. He urged ADC members to actively participate in the election and safeguard their votes to prevent rigging. Salaam, the governorship candidate, outlined his plans to revitalize the energy sector for regular electricity supply if elected, vowing that the electorate would not tolerate electoral malfeasance.

By the time we swear in Najeem Salam in November, we will be here again to march with you to the government house. On Saturday, protect your votes. Don’t allow anybody to rig you out. They will not rig and get away with it.
