#OsunDecides2026: Large turnout in Oyebamiji’s hometown as voters await accreditation

Ikire, the hometown of the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, witnessed a significant turnout of voters on Saturday as residents flocked to polling centers for the Osun governorship election.

Voters began arriving at their polling units as early as 7 a.m., diligently checking the registers posted on walls to confirm their names before accreditation and voting commenced. Officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were also present, having set up at the polling units before 7 a.m. in preparation for the day's proceedings.

Security was visibly present, with unarmed police officers stationed at polling centers. Additionally, armed security personnel, soldiers, and patrol vehicles were deployed strategically throughout the town to ensure order and a smooth electoral process. Despite the election activities, vehicular movement was observed along the Ife-Ibadan Road, which passes through Ikire, and motorcycles and cars were seen moving around town.

The atmosphere in Ikire remained peaceful, with some shops open for business as residents went about their daily activities amidst the ongoing election. The All Progressives Congress candidate is expected to cast his vote at Ward 9, Unit 3, located at AUD School Atile in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area.
