#OsunDecides2026: Police can’t confirm Osun Speaker’s siege claim, arrest 300 at politician’s residence - Spokesperson

The Nigeria Police Force stated it cannot confirm allegations by the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, that armed individuals besieged his residence early Saturday. The Force Headquarters spokesperson, Anietie Iniedu, said police responded to the speaker's alarm but found no substantiating evidence at the location.

So far, we cannot confirm that.

However, police conducted a separate operation at the home of a political stakeholder, arresting 300 individuals described as "unaccounted-for persons." The spokesperson did not identify the stakeholder or provide further details on the arrests or the circumstances.

Despite the speaker's claim, Iniedu maintained that the security situation across Osun state remained calm on election day. He urged residents to participate peacefully in the electoral process, assuring them of adequate security measures.

So far, Osun is peaceful, and we encourage residents to come out en masse to exercise their franchise.
