Our star on the podium after 40,000 spectators

Slovenian motocross rider Tim Gajser claimed third place at the Grand Prix of Flanders in Lommel, Belgium, with a third-place finish in the first heat and a fourth in the second. The overall victory went to Dutch rider Jeffrey Herlings, who was dominant in both races.

Herlings, the current world championship leader, was in a class of his own on the sandy Belgian track. He led from the start in the first heat, quickly building a significant lead. In the second heat, he again pulled away from the competition, managing to hold his line and secure the win despite a clutch issue. "It was a perfect weekend for me. I'm just sorry about the engine problems that started on Saturday. I hope we can fix them before the next race," Herlings said after the event.

Gajser had a strong start in the first heat, moving up to second position early on. He battled with Dutch rider Kay de Wolf for the runner-up spot before ultimately finishing third. French rider Romain Febvre also challenged for a podium position, engaging in a close fight with Gajser in the latter stages of the race.

In the second heat, Herlings again took the lead, followed by de Wolf. Gajser initially held third but was overtaken by Febvre and Tom Vialle. The order shifted again near the end when Febvre crashed and then experienced a mechanical failure, allowing Vialle and Gajser to gain positions.

Jan Pancar had a challenging day, starting 23rd in the first heat and finishing 18th, and then starting 12th in the second heat but falling back to 20th before recovering to 15th. In the overall World Championship standings, Herlings leads with 675 points, followed by Herlings himself with 571 points, ahead of the injured Lucas Coenen. Gajser is now 31 points behind third place.
