Over 120,000 Expected as 2026 Dublin Horse Show Kicks Off with New Arena

The prestigious Dublin Horse Show returns today, August 5th, at the RDS, with expectations soaring for over 120,000 attendees throughout its five-day run concluding on August 9th. This year's event marks a significant milestone with the inaugural use of the newly built Laya Arena, a state-of-the-art grandstand boasting a capacity of 6,775 spectators, promising an enhanced viewing experience for equestrian enthusiasts.

The show promises a comprehensive display of equestrian excellence, featuring 160 diverse classes and competitions. These span across showjumping, showing, performance, and breeding disciplines. Special attention will be given to native breed classes, showcasing Irish Draughts and Connemaras, alongside demonstrations of equine-assisted therapy, highlighting the versatility and therapeutic benefits of horses.

Central to the excitement is the €1 million Rolex Grand Prix of Ireland, the richest individual prize fund in Irish equestrian sport, drawing top international and national competitors. Adding to the celebratory atmosphere, the event will host an Aga Khan exhibition in the main hall, commemorating the centenary of the Nations' Cup. The prestigious Nations' Cup competition itself takes place on Friday, followed by a new initiative, the 'Elite Showjumping Foal Sale,' attracting global buyers interested in acquiring top-tier foals.

Show Director Fiona Sheridan emphasized the event's commitment to showcasing both international and Irish talent. "With highlights including the Nations' Cup, the Puissance, and the Rolex Grand Prix, we are delivering a week of top-level sport that reflects both the tradition and the ongoing strength of the Gallagher Dublin Horse Show," she stated. General admission tickets are priced at €30, plus a booking fee, offering access to a world-class display of equestrian sport and heritage.
