Over 125 kg of drugs seized in Mersin; three arrested

Turkish anti-narcotics police in Mersin have seized a significant quantity of cocaine and cannabis, leading to the arrest of three individuals. The operation involved a joint effort between the Mersin Customs Enforcement Anti-Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate and the Mersin Provincial Police Department's Anti-Narcotics Branch.

The cocaine, weighing approximately 3.49 kilograms, was discovered during an X-ray scan of a container that had arrived via Ecuador and Malta routes. The drugs were concealed within the refrigeration unit of the container, and their estimated street value is around 13.96 million Turkish Lira.

Following the initial seizure, further investigations led police to search a vehicle in the Mezitli district the following day. This search resulted in the discovery of 122.3 kilograms of pressed cannabis.

Three suspects, identified as E.İ.G., M.E., and H.M.H., were apprehended in connection with the drug trafficking operation.
