Over 225,000 Malaysian preschoolers join Quran memorization program

More than 225,000 preschoolers across Malaysia have joined the Juzuk 30 Quran memorization program, an initiative by the Community Development Department (Kemas) designed to introduce Islamic education from an early age. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who also serves as the Minister of Rural and Regional Development, stated that the program represents a significant innovation by Kemas to strengthen early childhood education. He emphasized the importance of starting Islamic education early, likening it to bending a bamboo shoot while it's young, to cultivate a generation with good morals. "Alhamdulillah, over 225,000 Kemas preschoolers have participated in the Juzuk 30 memorization program," he announced at the Negeri Sembilan State-level Rural Community Movement (GEMA@KKDW) Program. Beyond religious education, Kemas is also integrating technology-based smart learning to ensure teaching methods are interactive and keep pace with modern advancements. In a separate development, Ahmad Zahid noted that Johor and Pahang have nearly completed housing projects for second and third-generation Felda settlers, with efforts underway to expand this to other states. Negeri Sembilan has not yet reached this milestone. The GEMA@KKDW program, which aims to deliver government services and initiatives effectively to rural communities, is being implemented in stages, with Negeri Sembilan hosting the second series after Johor.
