Over 30 killed in suspected terrorist attack in Nigeria's Kaduna State

Over 30 people, including women and children, were killed in a suspected terrorist attack on Kamaru village in Kaduna State, Nigeria, the Southern Kaduna Peoples’ Union (SOKAPU) confirmed. SOKAPU President Tabara Kato expressed deep concern over the deteriorating security situation in rural and farming communities, noting the attack occurred despite official assurances. Residents in several local government areas live in constant fear, with many displaced from their homes by armed criminal groups operating with increasing audacity.

Kato urged the police to take immediate, decisive action to stop the escalating killings, abductions, and destruction of farmlands. SOKAPU called for a shift from reactive security measures to proactive, intelligence-driven policing, including the deployment of mobile police and counter-terrorism units to vulnerable areas. The group also stressed the need for improved response times to distress calls and better strategic communication to rebuild public trust, emphasizing that protecting lives and property is the government's primary responsibility.

The Kaduna State Government has received with deep sorrow reports of the killing of persons following an attack on Naridon Village. The Government strongly condemns the attack and has directed security agencies to intensify operations to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

The Kaduna State Government condemned the attack, which resulted in multiple deaths and widespread property destruction. Government spokesperson Ahmed Maiyaki stated that security forces have been instructed to track down and arrest the perpetrators. Governor Uba Sani conveyed condolences to the bereaved families and directed the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (KADSEMA) to deploy relief materials and humanitarian support to the victims' families.
