Over 600 families in Quequeña advance in housing titling process with Cofopri

In the district of Quequeña, Arequipa, a significant government initiative is underway to benefit more than 600 families by formalizing their housing. The Ministry of Housing, Construction, and Sanitation, through its agency Cofopri, has launched a property survey to advance the process of individual titling for residents.

Field operations are currently focused on the Nueva Quequeña Ecological Housing Association. Technical brigades are registering families and verifying lot information. This work, scheduled to continue until June 23, is part of a broader intervention that includes visits to other Arequipa districts on June 23 and 24 to address pending cases and previous observations.

The Cofopri deployment involves surveying sectors 1 and 2 of the housing association, collecting occupant data, and confirming possession of the land. This process assesses criteria such as continuous, public, and peaceful occupation, which are necessary steps toward individual property titling. During these visits, technical teams request residents' National Identity Documents and proof of land possession to complete the survey and move forward with the technical stage for future title delivery.

This titling process in Arequipa is supported by prior land regularization efforts, establishing the legal conditions for individual property formalization. The initiative aims to reduce urban property informality and organize settlement growth in the region. Securing a property title offers families legal certainty for their homes, enabling them to access financing, make improvements, and formalize inheritance, thereby strengthening family assets and expanding development opportunities.
