Over half a ton of marijuana seized in Paraguay after pursuit

In a significant anti-drug operation, agents from Paraguay's National Anti-Drug Secretariat (Senad) seized more than half a ton of marijuana in Zanja Pytã. The successful operation followed a vehicle pursuit in a rural area approximately 15 kilometers from Pedro Juan Caballero, the departmental capital.

During the chase, the vehicle transporting the illicit cargo, a Fiat Adventure pickup truck, overturned. This incident allowed Senad agents to confiscate the substantial marijuana haul and apprehend the driver. Preliminary information from Senad identified the detainee as Oscar Ramón González Caballero, 31, though details regarding any prior criminal record or ongoing investigations were not immediately available.

The confiscated marijuana, weighing over 500 kilograms, and the vehicle involved have been transported to the Senad's base. Authorities will continue their investigations based on the evidence seized. This operation is part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the Amambay department.
