Oyo State Kidnap Victims Undergoing Medical Checks, To Be Handed to Governor Makinde

Children and teachers rescued from the Oriire community in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Nigeria, are currently receiving medical attention. Information from the Office of the National Security Adviser indicates that the victims will be transferred to the care of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde once their medical examinations are complete.

The children are still undergoing medical examination. They will thereafter be handed over to Oyo Governor Makinde.

President Bola Tinubu expressed profound joy over the successful rescue, commending the military, DSS, and police for their round-the-clock efforts. He noted that the operation, which spanned 56 days, secured the release of the abducted individuals without any collateral damage. Eight abductors were arrested, while others were neutralized during the operation. The President regretted the anguish the ordeal caused the children, their families, and the nation.

I am profoundly happy that our security forces successfully rescued the abducted pupils and teachers from Oriire, Ogbomoso in Oyo State today after a military, police and intelligence-driven operation that neutralised some of the terrorists that perpetrated the evil act and the arrest of eight of them.

Tinubu urged the Oyo State Government to enhance school security across the state, acknowledging their cooperation with the Federal Government throughout the rescue efforts. "I am profoundly happy that our security forces successfully rescued the abducted pupils and teachers from Oriire, Ogbomoso in Oyo State today after a military, police and intelligence-driven operation that neutralised some of the terrorists that perpetrated the evil act and the arrest of eight of them," the President stated.

This successful military operation has ended the siege and standoff of over 50 days and has brought relief to the entire nation and the affected families in particular.

He further expressed gratitude to the armed forces, intelligence agencies, and police for the safe recovery of the hostages. The President pledged that his government would ensure justice for the victims, including the family of Mr. Oyedokun, who was murdered by the terrorists. The successful operation brought an end to a 50-day siege, providing relief to the nation and the affected families.
