Pablo Carreño Replaces Rafa Jódar at Copa del Rey de Tenis

Rafa Jódar has withdrawn from the 101st edition of the Copa del Rey de Tenis, scheduled for July 10-11 in Huelva. The organization cited personal reasons for his withdrawal. Jódar, who was a major draw for the tournament following a strong debut year as a professional, will be replaced by Pablo Carreño.

Notably, Jódar and Carreño recently faced each other in the second round of Wimbledon, where Jódar emerged victorious in a five-set match that spanned two days. The tournament's organizers acted swiftly to secure Carreño as a replacement, ensuring a high level of competition.

The Copa del Rey de Tenis will commence on July 10 with a match between Roberto Bautista and Dani Mérida, the 2024 tournament winner. Following this match, the Recreativo de Huelva de Tenis club will present its highest honor, the Gold Medal, to Roberto Bautista in recognition of his career, which is set to conclude this year.

The second semifinal will feature Pablo Carreño against Iñaki Montes, determining the other finalist. The women's singles final, a direct final format, will be contested on July 11 between Spanish players Lorena Solar and Nuria Párrizas.
