Pablo “Vitamina” Sánchez takes a self-critical look after victory over Trinidense

Olimpia collected three vital points in its effort to move closer to the top of the standings, but Pablo “Vitamina” Sánchez did not treat the victory as a flawless performance. The coach praised his team's control against Trinidense while focusing closely on the spells that left his side under pressure.

Sánchez said Trinidense remains one of Olimpia's most difficult opponents. He recalled facing the team three times in the previous semester, twice in the league and once in the Copa Sudamericana, and said those matches regularly become tense and dangerous. Olimpia, he argued, showed patience and constant control during the first half despite Trinidense's direct approach and specialist players.

The coach was far less satisfied with the opening 20 minutes after the break. He said Trinidense began to cause problems while Olimpia failed to recognize that it needed to move the danger away from its own area. Olimpia repeatedly lost possession soon after winning it, often close to goal, creating the scares that threatened to undermine its control of the match.

Sánchez credited the substitutions and tactical adjustments that changed the game. He singled out Hugo Sandoval, who he said generally contributes something to the team, and pointed to a two-striker setup that created the chance to take the lead after Raúl Cáceres delivered several dangerous crosses. Once ahead, Olimpia returned to its original 4-3-3 system to regain greater control of the game and play a more prominent role.

The coach also said his team handled the final pressure well, despite what he described as several strange refereeing decisions and three or four fouls that put the ball into Olimpia's area. He ended by expressing hope that the team could finish the first half of the season strongly. He also acknowledged a remaining attacking problem, saying Olimpia should have added a second goal much earlier.
