Padang Distributes Rp 8 Billion Aid to Businesses Hit by Disasters

The Padang City Government has disbursed Rp 8 billion in aid to support fisheries and food sector businesses impacted by hydrometeorological disasters. The assistance was handed over by Mayor Fadly Amran during the 357th anniversary celebration of Padang City on August 10, 2026.

Mayor Amran stated that the aid is a crucial part of the city's efforts to restore the community's economy following the 2025 disasters. The anniversary celebration also served as a momentum for fundraising for affected residents. "Many of our people were affected by the disaster. So, we are using this 357th anniversary momentum to gather charity for the affected," Amran said.

This initiative is part of the "Padang Melayani" (Padang Serves) flagship program. Amran expressed hope that the aid would enable residents to resume their businesses and recover their family economies. "We hope the aid distributed can help the recovery process and reactivate the family economy of the recipients. May this aid be beneficial for the economic recovery of all your families," he added.

The Rp 8 billion aid is sourced from the Padang City Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD) and Regional Transfer Funds (TKD). Specifically, Rp 3.1 billion comes from the APBD, and Rp 4.9 billion from TKD. The assistance includes various forms of support for fisheries and food production activities.

For capture fisheries, recipients received 19 fiberglass boats, 724 sets of monofilament nets, and 19 units of 15 HP outboard motors. Aquaculture support includes 30 catfish broodstock and 800 kilograms of fish feed. Equipment for processing fishery products, such as four chest freezers, a vacuum sealer, a gas stove, and a large wok, were also provided.

In the food consumption and security sector, aid includes facilities for the "Kebun Rumah Pangan Lestari" (Sustainable Food House Garden) program, such as humus soil, compost fertilizer, polybags, and various vegetable seeds like spinach, chili, and tomatoes. Additionally, food processing equipment like blenders, baglog press machines, freezer boxes, double-door refrigerators, and bag sealers were distributed.

The city government is also distributing 36.2 tons of rice, totaling 17,218 servings, to residents affected by floods and extreme weather on August 3, 2026.
