Pahang Leads East Coast with Highest Labor Force Participation; MYFutureJobs Expands Access

Pahang has achieved a significant milestone, recording the highest labor force participation rate among Malaysia's East Coast states. In the first quarter of 2026, 65.3% of the state's working-age population was actively participating in the labor force. This strong figure is complemented by a persistently low unemployment rate of 1.9%, underscoring the robust economic growth within the state.

The goal is empowered through the MYFutureJobs Portal, which functions as a national employment ecosystem to connect people, employers, and the government more smartly, inclusively, and effectively.

Datuk Khairul Akhbar Firdaus Khan, Deputy Minister of Human Resources, highlighted that Pahang's economic strength is driven by key sectors including manufacturing, services, agriculture, and mining. He emphasized that in today's dynamic economic landscape, a state's success is measured not just by the number of job opportunities, but also by the accessibility of these opportunities to all segments of society.

To enhance job accessibility, the MYFutureJobs portal serves as a national employment ecosystem, intelligently connecting job seekers, employers, and the government. The Madani government's aspiration is to ensure every Pahang resident has access to suitable employment opportunities, whether in urban or rural areas. This is facilitated through AI-powered job matching, which pairs individuals with vacancies based on their skills, experience, qualifications, and potential, thereby improving matching accuracy and career sustainability.

The organization of career carnivals, such as the one held at the Sultan Ahmad Shah International Convention Centre (SASICC) in Indera Mahkota, is a strategic approach aligned with the Pahang 2030 Agenda and the Pahang Economic Master Plan 2025-2030. These events aim to expand access to quality employment. Since 2023, the Social Security Organization (Perkeso) has facilitated over 26,877 job placements in Pahang through various labor market initiatives. The Indera Mahkota career carnival alone offered more than 6,000 job opportunities from 30 employers across diverse industries.
