Pakistan get boost as injured Shan Masood returns to training ahead of England Test series

Pakistan's national cricket team has received a significant boost with the return of experienced batter Shan Masood to training. Masood, who sustained a finger injury during the opening Test against the West Indies, had to miss the second match of that series. His absence was felt, though Pakistan secured a notable away victory in his stead.

Masood resumed practice with the squad at Beckenham on Tuesday, participating in batting net sessions under the supervision of the medical team. This development raises hopes for his availability for the first Test against England, scheduled to begin on August 19 in Leeds.

The upcoming three-match Test series forms part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-2027 cycle. Pakistan, currently sitting in eighth place in the championship standings, will be aiming to continue their recent positive momentum under new captain Babar Azam.

Before the first Test, Pakistan is scheduled to play a three-day tour match in Beckenham against a Professional County Club Select XI. This match, originally planned for four days, has been shortened and will now commence on August 13. The team's preparations are in full swing as they look to make a strong showing in England.
