Pakistan says US-Iran talks ongoing amid fresh strikes

Pakistan is maintaining that negotiations between Iran and the United States continue, even as the U.S. has carried out a significant series of strikes against Iran. These retaliatory actions followed fresh attacks that targeted Jordan, signaling a dangerous escalation in regional tensions.

The past two days have seen a broader increase in military activity across the Middle East. Saudi Arabia has joined the U.S. in striking militant groups within Iraq. Simultaneously, Egypt has experienced its first drone attack, hitting a Mediterranean port, prompting its president to warn of serious escalation. Jordan reported intercepting Iranian missiles for a second consecutive day, while Kuwait confirmed an Iranian strike on a building belonging to a Chinese company resulted in one fatality.

He affirmed Pakistan's commitment to bringing all parties back to technical discussions under a previous agreement.

Previous talks, initiated after an April truce, had stalled, leading to the collapse of the ceasefire earlier this month. The U.S. military confirmed "successfully completed a heavy wave of strikes against Iran," targeting numerous Revolutionary Guard installations.
